One Early Morning....

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry
Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
~ Alan Jackson

(Mama Duck posted these lyrics. I needed to also.)
I was waking up and turned on the news. It was 6:15ish AM I think. I noticed Katie was on and that wasn't a normal thing. A "small commuter plane" had hit one of the World Trade Center buildings. I was glued. I was watching as they showed the other plane going in.

NBC had their Pentagon correspondent on the phone. He was commenting and all of a sudden a plane hit the Pentagon. All hell was breaking loose.

We watched in horror..as a COUNTRY...the first building crash down. The second came down. Lives were gone. Where were the people? Tears were running down my cheeks. Our world stopped. Horror. Pain.

It was a changing moment in our life. We were all glued. All the stations had news on. All of them. We couldn't laugh. Husbands told wives to step away from the TVs.
We were all depressed. I know we as a nation were depressed, grieving and feeling helpless.

It's been a few years, yet I can still feel the pain so clearly.

Remember our flags? Who still has their flag waving?
I DO.

I love this country. I am a proud American. I support our troops. I support fellow man. I will help Katrina victims, now.

I joined the Red Cross and will go to Disaster Relief Training on Wednesday all day. I will do something. I am blessed, raised in a loving family and never wanted for anything.

Can you do something to help? Can you pack some relief kits? Collect some water? Do a training class? Give a hug?

My friends....let's help those who need our help. It's heartbreaking to have Katrina as we remember 9/11. Visit Cat's Site. She has lost everything. Everything!

Can you send a t shirt...a pair of pants, socks, maybe some legs for her boy?

Think about it.
God Bless America...
XOXO

nice post sunshine... well written and well felt...
you do well to be proud of your country and its people, their warmth and generosity are immense... forget about your self-serving and incompetent leaders... you, the people who are ready and able to stand together bravely and get the job done... you are the strength of America...
