Blisters From Mac N Cheese

What do you think happens when you decide to make your kids Mac N Cheese for lunch and then go to stir noodles only to have scalding water splash on your light cotton blouse you're wearing? Well as soon as you can grab your burn ointment...you'll have a nice little blister develop on your sensitive tummy skin.

How do I know this.....I have said little blisters on my tummy as I type.

I'm one little lucky duck, with all the smoothness of Marth Stewart..LOL.

Oh and I choose not to discuss the war tonight. The husband has totally fired me up tonight by telling me...keeper of the barackobama.com daily emails...that he is voting for...mmmmmmm I better not say who, but I'm pissed.

Iraq...Again...

The husband is leaving "again" for Iraq. Ugh. This time we're the lucky ones that get to endure 16 MONTHS of separation. I can't even believe it. Yes he is a marine and yes this is what they do, but OMG. Enough is enough already. If anyone has the audicity to say he should get out, just don't. It's not possible.

There's nothing to say except that this just sucks.

This is why I will be supporting Obama.

Notes Notes and yes more Notes....

It seems I have notes all over the place. Sometimes I'll even find them in my purse. Some are notes, stories, jokes, or one liners from the kids. I love paper and pen. I don't do notes on the computer, because there's something about just unloading on paper when the mood hits me. I'm lucky that those manic times and a little darkness come through the fingers saying exactly what I'm feeling. Today is one of those days. The creative ones out there must know what I'm talking about. I love little journals, yellow note pads...or even the black and white composition books my 3rd grader uses.

Today is a day of notes. Notes are everywhere. I must be feeling today, don't you think? My iPod is playing some David Gray right now...and memories are flooding through the pen.. Hmmm... well right now through the keys. I know this doesn't make sense to you bloggies, but my Irish story telling is that of legends...in my own mind, at least. :)

Have you ever been so tired that you don't know what to do with yourself. Falling asleep is not an option, because the kids are up and playing. I've had some diet coke and I just might go pour myself a cup of coffee. Ok..back coffee in hand. I haven't slept well in days and I guess I can say it's been anxiety. I had a doctor appt today that had to do with my mouth surgery I get to have in July. Lucky lucky me. I've just been worried about the pain and help when I'm done. I worry too much. I'm working on that.

Here's a tip for you my friends. If you're going to have wisdom teeth pulled ( i am plus a couple of molars they've moved into...) then don't look up the surgery on Youtube. Not a good idea. lol! I have to go under general anestesia and it's going to be a real surgery. My jaw is just not big enough for the teeth. Yes..bring on the jokes. My sister told me she knows for a fact I have a big mouth. LOL. The real problem is that I can barely open my mouth. Good news is that the scale showed the results of that. Wooohoooo. Hmmm. What else? Not much.

If I Could Go On A Trip I'd Choose Ireland

The travel bug is biting again...I'm going to start planning again!

It only took one cup of coffee and listing to Here Comes The Sun to figure this one out. I want to go to Ireland. I want to see all the places I've read about in books. My mind can place me on a cliff taking in the view and the smell. Just once I want to see where Half Of Me is from. Hey I got the Irish gene good bad and crazy all rolled into one, then sprinkle in the same amount of Italian and you have Christie.

I find myself falling in love with my favorite authors who are what...Irish ladies. :) Marian Keyes is a kindred spirit. She has to be. I get her on such a level that takes me away.

There's some exploring that needs to be done. County Kerry,is where I still have family. Of course we even have a Father Paddy. :)

I just need and crave a little soul searching. Nothing wrong with a little soul reflection in life.

I've Come To A Decision!

Alright, a final monumental decision has been made. I am going to embark on the whole podcast idea I've been toying with. It's the perfect time, considering I'm hitting an anniversary of sorts. I woke up this morning with so many questions that I figured the path was in front of me.

I write about everything. I mean everything. I even get paid for it sometimes. I know, imagine that. The thing is that I need more. I want more. The need to just let the mouth go further and faster than the fingers ever can. I have thoughts and ideas on so many topics. This past week I've been piecing together scripts, topics, ideas, crazy ideas, and have come up with some sort of semblance of a program.

It took a few cups of coffee, a pop tart, and a diet cook around noon to figure out that podcasting is what I need to be doing. I may have a total of 5 listeners (relatives minus my mom because I know she'll never figure out how it works,) but I'll be developing something that's mine! Woohoo!

My list of things to do today is huge. I had a horrible experience at church a few weekends ago and it's become apparent that it's time to move on to somewhere else. Huge decision. Ugh. Another story for another day. Let's see what else...hmmmmm....I need a mani and a pedi, along with some seriously cute sandals.

Ok, I'm missing an old friend today. I've connected with one long lost friend and let me tell you...I wish I could with the other. It won't happen, but hey...the dreams sure are nice.

• Am I really into birthdays or am I selfish and just want birthday attention? Hmmm I just like birthdays. :)

It's Been A LOOOOONG Time!

This has been my 14th anniversary week. Yes, I just aged myself greatly. I have no idea how 14 years passed fast. WE decided on small sentimental gifts. Something that means something. Well, we came up with a joint gift. It was going to be a visit
Color Me Mine. We're going to go together next week and do a plate together or something cute like.

My sister asked me if I was serious. LOL...She laughed at me. I told her to do 14 years and then come up with something interesting. He'll do anything for me, really EXCEPT watch a chick flick. He refuses to do that on a dvd at home. It's crazy.


Anyway, that wasn't really good enough for him. I told him no jewelry,lingerie, or clothes to see what he could come up with. He bought me the most gorgeous pen. I write in my journal everyday. I'm constantly making notes for my writing. He gave me this beautiful Waterford Crystal Pen. I love it. It's been a great week.

I called my mom to thank her for my beautiful anniversary flowers. They were gorgeous. If you ever want to send someone something, just include some Stargazer Lillies in the bouquet. They are my all time favorite. You only need a few and your room is full of the most gorgeous fragrence. It's heavenly.


My mom started telling me about my nephew. She happened to be watching him while my sister was in school. My sweet little up to boy stuff, nephew decided to play on the grass in the backyard. He's always exploring. My mom was out there, too. This boy is in love with my parents' dogs. So, he must have decided to give them a treat. He walked to the grass and picked up the biggest piece of POOP, from their German Sheppard...TITAN. I hope that gives you some kind of idea how big the Poop was. He took the poop and put it right into Titan's water dish. Then he said, "I do it!" He was so happy he clapped for himself.

How's that for a cute toddler and dog story! Poop in the water! I Do IT!

How Was Your Weekend....?

I started planning a vacation this weekend. Actually, I'm planning two trips. The first is an actual vacation with the family. The second is to my high school reunion. How can it be 20 years? The reunion wasn't really in the summer planning until I connected with some friends from back in the day...or as my daughter refers to "back in the 80s." Who knew the 80s would be so reviled. LOL...Our Hair! It just makes me laugh. We know how the ozone started to open up, don't we? It was like the more crusty the better.

We should all post our senior pictures tomorrow, Monday, and look at the bangs. That is for those of us that are old enough to remember "the 80s." LOL.

BTW...We were up early on Saturday and went to the Farmers' Market. When we got there it was early. All the booths were still open. There were only two booths with veggies. How can they have a Farmers' Market with only two veggie stands? They had a dog snack stand, candles, candy, pastry booth, a blue grass band (at 8am,)and only two veggies stands. Hmmmm? All I can say is that hopefully as the summer arrives they'll have more.

Anyhoo, I'm off to relax. The kids are cuddled in their beds, the hubby is doing some work, and Mocha is snuggled next to my tush(his favorite spot.)It's time for me to put a movie on and chill with my glass of wine.

Things For Thursday

Just a few notes from me this morning.

1. On the surface it might seem like a good idea to watch
PS I Love You, instead of the Today Show, but it's really not. Sure the kids are at school, the house is quiet, and it looks like it's going to rain. However, is crying a way you want to start the morning? Hmmmmm. Not Really. How is it possible for me, the Book Whore, to enjoy the movie much more than the book? Hmmmm.

2. Laundry never ends. If you think it does, you're simply wrong. For one that keeps up with it, like me, it still never ends. It's a crappy thought,I know. Embrace the chore with some good smelling detergent, like a nice TIDE and some Downey. Then sniff as you fold for some great Aromatherapy. Just a thought. LOL. :)

3. I LOVE FED EX! Gifts for the mothers in my world and grandmother will be on the way today. :)

4. I really love my morning coffee. It's yummy this morning.

June 6 is rapidly approaching! How did 38 happen so fast? I'm not obsessing about it, though. It's going to be a great day. I love birthdays. I love celebrating. The presents, the cake, and all the cards made by the kids make it worth gaining another year. Plus, I think I'm holding up pretty well. :)

On to other things...TICKS! They are the most disgusting things, next to rats and mice of course, that I've ever encountered. I'll leave that alone now, because it gives me chills just thinking about how they don't like to die. My poor little Mocha. He has the no tick and flea medicine, but I need to get his fur trimmed a little so they aren't attracted to him. Oh and let's not forget how last week one managed to end up on my little Sammy's nuts (as he calls them.) YUCK! Mommy had the joy of removing it from the nut sack. Lucky Me.

Well Flickr isn't cooperating with me today. Actually, I bet it's probably Blogger. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm off to tuck the little ones into bed and do a little work.

My World....

My dreams have been so crazy and real lately. Have you ever had a phone number along with someone from your past keep dominating your dreams? It's crazy. I pulled out Freud to help me with my neurosis and inability to leave things alone. I can't get anything out of it, though, because I have little ones continually ....Ummm Mommmy can I... questions.

The phone number that always pops up is a 716 number! Crazy! No...lol..I'm not obsessing. :)

Missed You...

What happens when life gets busy, kids become little people with things to do, and the spring arrives all of a sudden...well blogging takes a total backseat.

I blinked and I missed it! February is gone! It's been a busy month for me. Projects are done and I'm ready for spring to just jump into our part of the world.

I'm soooo excited. I finally bought a new camcorder. My advice to others...Never ever ever ever purchase a DVD Camcorder. They're worthless if you plan on doing any movie editing. I bought a new one with a hard disk and I'm going to get to post movies of us online for the family. Soooo happy!

Weiner Dude Dances...

Hi Friends!

I've been MIA. Life has been going on here and I've been trying to keep up with it. I'll just say quickly.....Hi Tammy! LOL. Yes, I was told to get back to blogging! :)

So, at this moment I'm listening to my middle one cry because the Polly Pockets and the doll house were all messed up becaused her brother kicked it over "on accident." Lovely.

Here's another thing that happened. I was called by the boys teacher it went like this.

Her: Mrs. Me It's Mrs. Teacher.

Me: Hi (crap what did he do now)

Her: He's been a really good boy today, BUT I put an animal movie on and he jumped on his chair and grabbed his private part and started to dance. Does he have brothers?

Me: Hmmm no brothers but 5 boys next door. (hmmm speechless.)

Her: Well that's where he must have learned it from. He's embarassed I called. (she starts laughing)

Me: (At least she doesn't think I teach him Weiner Dude Dances)


Yes...that is my boy. Got To Love It.

Stepping

I love this time of year. Love it!

I didn't make a resolution to lose any weight. I know...right? Ok, I've been working out and getting the heart healthy for a few months now. I received a new pedometer for Christmas. I'm addicted to the "Steps Per Day."

Did you know that in order to get to 10,000 steps a day you really need to work at it?! On a day when I don't work out I'm lucky if I get to 7,000+ steps. The more you wear the pedometer, though, the more you'll get more steps in during your day.

How about this for an example. I've been a little sick with a stubborn cold. Yesterday was a crap day. I felt icky and lethargic. Ok...I only did 4000ish steps.

So here's to shooting for 10,000 today. I plan on getting in about 13,000ish because of my workout planned. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Back to Simple....Until later

Back to the original. Has it really come full circle. Well, I'm not sitting here with a stack of sticky notes feeling as if I've lost my mind. I'm sipping some coffee working on the holiday list and writing some cards. If you're on my list you can expect a card this year. :) We're not cruising or taking any other fun trip this year. We're just going decorate the house and enjoy the holiday here on the water.

Ok friends, I must go and pick up the house. The sunroom needs my serious attention. I need to get some sort of disguised bed/cute sitting arrangement, because I'm expecting company. The basement just seems to chilly. At least in the sunroom the heaters work wonders and the water view is perfect. Hmmm..Maybe Ikea. LOL. Yep..handy old Ikea.

I LOVE MONDAYS! yes I really do!

Edited 10AM: Some parts of this post I seem a little pathetic, but trust me..it's my own way of sarcasm and humor..lol. Life is really good. One more thing though. Kelsey tried out for Cheerleading. She was cut at the very end. She was terrific and brave for trying out. Here's the thing that just boggles my mind. She made it through the grueling two week tryout process. They only cut her at the very end and told her she didn't make it because of her kidney, or lack there of one. How on Earth does having only one Kidney make a little girl ineligable for cheer. I'm stumped. Her doctor didn't have a problem with her and soccer or swimming. Her doctor (pediatrician) passed her on the physical. It's not like it's a co-ed high school team. I guess I should have had her urologist sign her off as ok. I'm just bummed for her. However...she's ok today.

Why do I love a Monday? Everyone is at school...I can enjoy a hot yummy cup of coffee and get some writing done. My brain rejuvenates. It's good. We all know how good my coffee is..:) I wish I could make you a yummy cup.

How about that snow..? I have a hard enough time dealing with the 50s that I'm getting today. If we had an inch here, there would totally be a snow day. I'm serious.


Hanukkah starts this week. I've decided on a portrait of the kids for the family gift this year. It's adorable. I'll have to get it scanned in to show you all.




My sister has a cute t-shirt like this one. I guess it states to the world that yes..some of the girls in our family will be accepted by the parents of the Jewish boys we fall in love with and the schiktza in the group won't be. :)Sigh...another story, but I digress. She's safe with the new boyfriend, because she celebrates both. Sigh..lol. Funny when my sweet Half Phillipino Jewish Nephew is more of a celebrater of both than me LOL. Crazy Family. LOL.

Poor Mocha is getting his identity confused. It's really not his fault.

Pack neatly.In anticipation of the most popular holiday for travel in the USA, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today launches a campaign urging travelers to eliminate clutter in carry-on bags. Pack in layers. Keep items neat.
Messy travelers could spend more time in line if their carry-ons are cluttered because such bags are more likely to be pulled aside and searched by hand, TSA spokeswoman Ellen Howe says.

The added search could add up to three minutes to time in the security line, Howe says.

"Whether or not the (TSA) campaign is effective, the effort is certainly welcome because, with 27 million-plus people scheduled to fly over Thanksgiving, every effort to speed up the security checkpoint will help," says David Castelveter, spokesman for the Air Transport Association, the major airline trade group.

Mommy..I Have Another One

Mommy (shaking me) wake up...I have another chicken pox. (Yes..One More.) She is totally counting every single one. Daily counts. Ummmm...I think she's up to 20. LOL. The funny thing is that she doesn't have too many at all. Really only on her face and a few on the arms. It's the pox with the vaccine type of outbreak....hardly any, but enough to have to stay home from school. They're only visible on the face...so bingo...she's home sick.

This is about as bad as it has gotten. Not bad at all! If you squint really hard you may see a few on her pretty face. Oh yes, but enough to be considered sick. LOL. Oh my.




Hmmmm...to send her to school tomorrow...or not? That is the question.

Pox...Again!

Did you all have a great Halloween last night?!

My little Tinkerbell and Jack Sparrow were sooo fun. They just ran house to house. It was quite the workout keeping up with them. There weren't that many kids out, which surprised me. Needless to say, my candy girl (teenager..i'm old) had tons of cany left over to stash.

Well, I woke up this morning to a voice wispering she had more dots on her face. Crap! You guessed it correctly. My totally vaccinated daughter has the chicken pox. So that would make the running total of three vaccinated children and three cases of chicken pox in three years. Wow...huh?

We're the holiday special even Pox kind of family. Kelsey had hers on Easter one year. Sammy Richard aka Jack Sparrow broke out the week before school..(not contagious when school started..thankfully.) Now, Ava aka Tinkerbell is the Halloween Pox girl. She's totally sorting all the candy in front of me right now. LOL. Sooooo serious.

I have some great pictures, but of course for some reason my camera isn't loading. Crap Crap Crap. Ok...that was the remainder of my vent. I was read to break my camera about 30 minutes ago. However, knowing me, it's nothing technical...just me f***ing it up somehow.

Well, I'm off to confirm an appointment. The Head lump is probably nothing. I have a scan tomorrow, though. So I haven't heard a thing. I had one of the scans and they wanted it checked down in Portmouth..a bigger better hospital. Nothing I'm sure. :)

I love this! Having said that, I'm not a huge Celine fan..at all. Here's the thing, though. It's cool that she's mid 30s, like me...and I think the reinvention is cool! I'd love a little reinvention, taking a chance again....you know all the cheesy stuff that she sings about in the song.

Getting ready for the young one's birthday tomorrow. Cupcakes are bought and bagged for school, because you know moms can't bring in "made" ones. His cake is ready for the after dinner party and his gift is wrapped. Sooooo exciting! I didn't turn seven until second grade! It must be the October Birthday thing.

Finally...There's a lump in my head. I'm sure nothing. My sister said since I can feel it, then it can't be in the brain. Who knows. Doctor's appointment tomorrow at 8:20!

...Christmas/Holiday Shopping that is!

I'm totally on it this year. Did you know that so many toys go on Clearance about right now? I didn't until I walked into Walmart through the garden entrance. They have Barbies, Fairies, Babies (even Baby Alives.!) Tons of boy stuff, but my boy is easy. So that is my tip of the day to you. Oh...I love to do my Xmas shopping online. Check there too. Same clearance items, Plus more! How can a toy be clearanced...hmmm....no clue, but they are. Deals for us.\

Ok Baby Alive is the toy of the year in this house. My girl wants one badly. Remember when we were little the Baby Alives were the dolls! They pooped peed andt we got to change diapers! She wants the one that poops and pees. Ok...I'm going to opt for the peepee one, because Lord knows I don't need anymore poops to clean up. They both sip and eat...so, I'm sure she won't miss the poop. Then again..maybe that's the part that makes it fun for the little girls. Ok...i just changed my mind. The poopy one it is!

Geekified!

In an attempt to become a more well versed reader of blogs, I've been searching for some new ones to add to my blogroll. Why...no clue...somehow I ended up on this one. It's about streamlining tasks and becoming more "geekified." Ok, well that's how I put it. I'm sure the blogger means to help his reader, but I don't know one woman who would go to this trouble for a shopping list.

I barely write a list, let alone have time for his "Manly" idea listed below:

"Here's an example. When I run out of cleaning supplies, I don't make a shopping list. I snap a photo of the empty container with my iPhone (however any old cameraphone will do). Then I email it into Flickr, which is free. I mark all the photos as private. In addition, I tag them "todo". Oh and the emails get backed up into the Gmail nerve center since I use their SMTP server. I could probably add a filter and a label here too."

Alrighty then my friends...LOL. Now that really will save us some time. :) He soooo means well in a man kind of way..don't you think?

Just for the record..I do find Geeks to be very sexy. The loves of my life...ALL GEEKS!

Template Needed!

I need a new temptlate. This is the worst looking one. I wish I still wish I had my hot pink one with the woman sipping wine curled up on her cozy couch. Yep...that was me.

So I pretty much spent the day doing a few errands. Looking for and arm band thing that the hubby uses when he throws his 55lb kettle bell around. If it's so important, I told him to keep track of his stuff. I know it will never happen, but maybe. Yeah, I know...never happen. I did a little laundry. Put off ironing a few shirts. Oh and here's the best part...NO BLEACH SPLASH MARKS!

Ode To My Favorite Duck...

I may only get 5 comments these days but I have well over a hundred reads every day. Most of them come through TWK. The oldies on here know her as Mama Duck. She is amazing. Her blog is fabulous. I love her. When I found out she was done yesterday my heart dropped. I'd miss her. However, she went into withdrawals and came back. For how long...only she knows.

Regardless...I will miss her.

WHERE DID I GET THIS FROM.....

I have had many of these days, but today I realized I am my Mother's Daughter!

Why...?

1. I used to laugh that my mom would do laundry and it would never fail that somehow she would ALWAYS end up BLEACH splattered on her Tshirt! WE do laundry and we're in comfy clothes, right? Right. So here I am and in one of my comfiest coziest pink Tshirts that is covered in little bleach marks! UGH! LOL.

2. Bleach on the Tshirt first time? Nooooooooo. How the hell have all my coze Ts gotten "Christified?" I seem to be having a collection in the making.

3. Sheets with bleach marks? Who knew you could have sheets not bleach worthy, not my mom and me. (just a little bleach now...a tiny amount in the bleach slot.) My mother again.

4. A towel here and there with a splash mark. Yep...I have those too.

5. Hmmmm we'll throw a good one in. NO WRINKLES! That my friends is a lovely thing my Mom has given me. We don't get wrinkles. Crows feet....non existent. Ok I use some killer eye cream and moisturizer, but some good genes help. :) Freckles..yes...wrinkles...ummmm no.:)

No Peanut Zone!

Do you know anyone allergic to peanuts? I was clueless until this week. My neighbor is and it's serious! I never realized how fast one could die with such a serious allergy. He went from 0 to anaphylactic sock in like no time. I had to call 911 and was a mess. He went from talking to not talking or communicating before I figured out what was wrong.

Scary Shit! Seriously. I just wanted to say that if you hear about someone wanting a no peanut zone for their child, then listen to them. I saw a perfectly healthy boy almost die because of lousy peanut butter crackers before my eyes.

Wow...

MY COMPUTER WAS SICK!!!!!!!!

I WAS HIJACKED! LOL! Ok not me personally, but my blog! Then...my computer w as totally completely sick. So, I decided I'd use the upstairs computer. Do you know where the is is going? Yep...I gave it the bug, too. I'm convinced it happened when I tried to update my template. I must have downloaded something really horrible. Bug infested...it was!

So, here I am. My computers have gone to get cleaned and now they're back! Wooohoo! I was totally and completely going through a panic. Glad that's over with.

Let's see....I've been busy:

• Had a fabulous party on Friday! I threw the most wonderful party. Tons of great food and drinks. It was so good no one would leave!
• I rearranged my living room.Totally loving it.
• Decided I'm thisclose to doing a Doctoral program that seems to be calling my name.
• Oh and yes...my dreams are alive and well. Sometimes I wonder what it is I'm telling myself with all the other person in the past stuff. LOL.
• Finally...I had the most fabulous Mani and Pedi on Friday! I was massaged, served diet coke lol...pampered....and totally relaxed. OMG. The best one ever. Just had to share.

My Little Moments....

That Brad Paisley Song has meaning. My hubby sent it to me one Sunday afternoon. SO many of the lyrics are me...

• All the smoke alarms in the house going offf.....Yep. We have a Mommy Smoke Alarm scenario! Open the windos and put the ceiling fans on. LOL. But he laughs.
• Backing into the mailbox. We had the only mailbox in our Nashville house that was at a wonderful little tilt. He didn't fix it, because it didn't matter. He knew I'd knock into that big white thing again and again!
• Me driving over the curb in his Volvo and knocking out his alignment! LOL. Then his next car...the same. He just shakes his head.
• I'm soooooo complicated yet not and how "borning would it be if I was just normal?"
• Directions! I can't even get somewhere with the GPS! The dings screw me up. SO I have my lady who talks me through me now. LOL. Lost Christie. He just doesn't know how it's possible to get lost with a GPS! I'm here to tell you it's possible!
• He says I snore. Of course I don't. HE just buys me the Breathe Right Strips. LOL. I wear them to humor him. LOL.

I'm so glad I have no plans for today. I'm sitting here with my cup of coffee. My head is pounding a little bit, but I'm sure it's recovering from the last few days. My girl (all my little ones actually) is so amazing. She was so scared for the last few days. When we got there for her surgery, though, ...she was FABULOUS!

The day went off without a hitch and we were home about 6 last night. Whew! What a day. They did three biopsies and we'll just see what happens. She's on some new medicine that hopefully will help her with all her pain. Soooooo things are looking better.

My Girl...

What a crazy few days. My poor sweet girl.

She had a horrible esophagus. It started with acid reflux. It's moved up her throat. Now instead of just having the stomachache she has a horrible time just swalowing. I've been so busy with appointments that include the initial appts, consults, pre ops...all of this an hour away from us.

Tomorrow she has surgery and her throat biopsies. I know it will be a rather easy procedure. I just hope hope hope they figure out what is wrong. On that note...Have a great few days everyone!

My SPF....

SPF FRIDAY!

I could go easy and post my sunscreen and bug spray. I...will post my safety net, though. The thing that makes everything ok when the kids are screaming...dogs are barking...and I feel like my mind is becoming mush! My Books!


I love reading. As you all are aware..I'm a whore....a Book Whore! :) So here's a sampling of my books I've devoured this summer.

• I love my Marian Keyes books. The Walsh girls are Five fabulous and different Irish sisters. If you take these in, I suggest you start with Watermelon then go to Rachel's Holiday followed by Angels.....and so on. They're good reads, being funny, sad, quirky, and yet the plots just deepen and grab you. I can never put them down.
• If you want a funny, sexy, great read then I suggest Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She uses supporting characters from the stories and builds them into they're own books! Love that. My two favorites "Match Me If You Can" and "Natural Born Charmer." Read in that order.
• Hmmmm...now for some serious fluff I suggest Bergdorf Blonds and Debutant Divorcee. They're funny. Not literary greats, but fun.
• Oh and if I can suggest one Danielle Steel book let it be Toxic Bachelors! Three single men who are best friends and they're lives are turned around by women. It's a spin on the whole female looking for love story.

There are many others, but that's all for now.

So when it's nasty out and the 13th is here and freaking me out, I'll be in my book escaping.

Bitch and Vent

Read at your own risk. I just need a vent!

I'm feeling like a failure these days. Ok, not a total failure, but like I just can't get it going these days.

Why?

It's easy to say put ourselves as a priority. How? Sometimes when I have an extra half hour I'd like to just stay quiet or enjoy quiet, rather than go out for coffee with a friend. Do you feel like that?

I had a great idea of making slip covers. How come I can't do it? Fabric is great. Beautiful, actually. I just can't get them to look right. So after hours and days of sewing I feel like I accomplished ZILCH.

Then I'm stuck with the feeling of...Wow...am I just capable of slip cover making. What else? I'm being really being self-indulgent right now, I know. It's not PMS. Hmmm. I'm raising my kids. I'm doing well at that, but I'm just thinking about me right now. Me. I soooo don't know who I am right now. My mistakes haunt me sometimes. I try to let them go, but why did it take me until 30 to get the wisdom and insight soooo needed in my twenties? Another major source of reflection for me. Ahhhh well...screw it.

One thing is...It's just that I miss that friend of mine. I love you friend. I wish you were here. I need your voice.

Ok I'm done. Tears are wiped away. I'm done. LOL. Whew.

We're off to the beach. Let's see if I can get the sunscream all over the kids this time, without leaving a strip of skin bare. LOL. Yep...been there done that and it left one with a nice little red stripe. Bad Mommy!

Then...I always used to make sure I didn't go out without Mascara and Lip Gloss...
Now...I make sure my mositurizer has SPF and my legs have bug spray.

Then...Getting my Victoria Secret Catalogs was something I looked forward to!...
Now...I can't wait for my Pottery Barn, PB Kids, and William Sonoma!

Then...I loved shopping ...I mean loved!
Now... Give me my garden, my patio to relax...and some time with my friends and I'm good for a long time!

Then...I made sure my hair was done every 6 weeks and my mani and pedi biweekly!
Now...Hmmmm...I try for the mani and pedi...and the hair looks good, but not done as timely as before.

Then...Shoe shopping was fun and I loved the sexy ones.
Now...I'm to busy telling my oldest that she will not wear heels that high!

Then...My car radio was mine.
Now..."Mommy can we listen to our music!"

Yep...this is what happens. I'm not fighting it, but crap if it doesn't make me feel my age.

Happenings In My World.

1. I have been eaten alive by mosquitos! Not kidding...I am mosquito bait. I'm dying. I was nextdoor having a little wine last night with the ladies and my girlfriend lit the citronella candles. They didn't work. I'm here to say that citronella is crap. It never works! Ok, I'm done. It was my own fault for not spraying down with all the bug killer, but I'm trying to keep carcinogens off my body. Go figure!

2. Insomnia has taken ahold of me tonight. I had to resort to some Lunesta. I'm typing as I wait for it to work.


3. If I have to look at one more Plasma or LCD TV and choose between a 47 and some other monsterous size...hmmmm....I think I'll scream. Oh didn't you know that football season is around the corner and this year it would be awesome to watch his "Sunday Ticket" on a 50ish inch flat screen HDtv. SUCH A GUY THING! He doesn't watch tv, EXCEPT for all of the football games. LOL. OMG. I'll take a picture of the schedule he "thinks" he's putting on the side of the fridge. Hmmmmmmm. Funny, though.

4. I walked 4 miles today in less than an hour! I kicked ass. I think I'm looking better at 37 than at 27...just a thought.

The 4th and Changing Gears!

Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July!

We had a great day yesterday. There were friends, yummy food, and fireworks that made the day great. I'm a little holiday'd out there, if truth be told. It just seems like I need a break from it all and start working out again tomorrow. I've got the iced tea going, and tons of water. I've been putting a yummy juicy slice of orange in my tea and it's a totally different taste. I love it.

Changing gears...

Yesterday while we were at the party Kelsey was telling one of the neighbors about the way she's working out and training for Cheer tryouts. I'm so impressed with her dedication. I, the mommy, sat down with her and told her the pros and cons. After all of this she may not be chosen. After that talk it's only been positive and encouraging. It's what any of you would have done. ok...so the issue...

My neighbor, the "perfect one," had the nerve to tell Kelsey all of the cons in public. She told her she may not make it and not to worry she could be good at plenty of things. The odds were really against her. She may not have the right body type! WTF! I was right there and I just wanted to slap the lady. What nerve. I'm sure Kelsey was oblivious, but I wasn't. Ok..really what a bitch! Ok...that's all on that subject.

Ok one more thing...How can a grown up be a bitch to a 12 year old?! Look at her...so not worthy of such crap from the "Perfect One!"



Ok..I'm going to sip a little glass of wine and watch one of the Netflix dvds. Choices Choices. It's a nice night and it's cooling off nicely outside. I love this time of night. The kids are in bed. It's quiet in the house and I'm going to sip a little glass of wine and chill.

SPF: Whatever you call it

Today it's something ugly, yet totally loved from a loved one.

Mine is newest/most recent gift from my daughter. I love it, but what it is it? LOL! It's something she made in art class and painted the most wonder shades of throw up. LOL. Gotta love it, though. She is so proud of it and it's right there next to her picture on the mantle.


Next is what I walked into on Monday night. I was out at the market for a little while. I came home and he (my non handy hubby) had my pans hanging on the wall above my sink with "NAILS" not " !!!!!!!! Ok,he was trying to make things easy for me. My last two houses I owned I had kitchens I could renovate. Now that I live in officer housing (in an amazing home,) in an area that I wouldn't buy in, I'm left with undesirable storage. So he thought he'd help. LOL...Love it?

In case he was mistaken about the executive branch maybe he should look up the White House website. His picture is there. What an ass. He has his own office and staff...Hmmmm. That would be an "entity" to me. Ok done with politics. I'm not looking for a fight here..just a little tiny bit of common sense.

Ok, on a lighter note. My mother has left! She was upset that I didn't bring any Xanax to give her at the airport. OH but I didn't get mad when she made me go inside with her at 4AM only to find out that my Dad made the reservations for JULY! Total accident, but trust me....what a pain in the ass. HOly Crap!

Shrek 3 for 5

Today we're going to see Shrek. I couldn't put the boy through Nancy Drew. So we compromised and now it's off to see Shrek's baby.

The visit is going great. I have no pics right now because I'm on the upstairs computer. Let's just say that My mom sure is taking it easy and relaxing during her vacation. LOL.

I've got the whole ovarian/uterine pain thing going today. I should go to the doctor..I know. I, however, need to be mommy and get them to the movie. I figure I can relax there...but holy crap if It doesn't hurt like a M-Fer. UGh.

Hope you all had a fabulous FD weekend. We were here and just played it low key. He grilled grilled and grilled some more.

My mother invaded, also. She flew into the wrong airport about an hour in the wrong direction. Put that with the fact that we were already at the airport an hour in the opposite direction from my house...it was another 2 hour drive to get the Parental! LOL.
Ring Ring...
Mom. I'm here at baggage claim where are you?

Me. I'm at baggage claim too looking for you?

Mom. Christie I don't see you. You're making me worry. I'll sit down. Just drive around and I'm sure you'll find me.

Ring Ring
Me. Mom what does the sign say outside of the building where you're sitting?

Mom. Have you found me?!

Me. Do you see me?

Mom. No.

Me. Then no mom...I haven't found you? (Holy Fuck)

Mom. It says Airport and Baggage Claim.

Me..(Well That helps.) I'll find you. Let me drive around and look some more.

Mom. Have you found me?!
Me. Ummmmm Mom, If I found you then you'd be in the car and not on the phone with me.

Mom. Christie I'm next to a yellow curb.

Me. (Thinking something is for sure f-d up now.) Mom...which airport are you at?

Mom. (In the duh tone) Richmond!

Me. Ummmm Mom...I live near Norfolk...not Richmond!

Mom. Well Daddy bought me the ticket.

SPF...Back Back Back...

Thank you lovely Kristine for the SPF today...Back / or something like that!


This was taken in the shadows with the flash off in case any new gray strands decided to pop up. My new take on "Gray Management" is to lighten and do awesome highlights so the light grays could mimic blond highlights! Awesome or what?!

Sorry for copying you Kristine, but my ass is in no mood for a "Baby Got Back" pic. The roots are hear and basically just blended into red. Everything is going to get lightened up in the next few days. Red is for winter and everything needs to be lightened up for the summer!

Ok, now that everyone knows my styling/coloring secrets...then hell what else does a girl have to hide. Aaaah...nothing!

Summer Summer Summer....

One more day and my kids are out for the Summer. This week they have half days. Halfway into the day when they came home I realized I better get some things planned or it's going to be one loooonnnnnggggg Summer. The beach is going to be top on the list and the pool. The only thing is that I miss TN. Yes, I miss TN. I had my Country Club Y's there. I have some pools at the gyms here, but nothing like that.

Ok so let's see...

Oh, I grabbed my camera in pure horror. I was looking out my kitchen window as I was doing the dishes. All of a sudden I see this creature hanging upside down...clawed feel hooked to the branch...and it was eating. I swear it looked like an upside down rat at first. UGHUGH UGH UGH UGH UGH. No...it was just one of my friendly little squirrel friends. They love to freak me out. I'll open my blinds in the moring and there's one in a little tree right outside my window looking right at me. HOLY CRAP that's something to wake up to.

Well, after I saw the hanging creature I ran and grabbed my camera. Of course he no longer was upside down. He was just staring at me. Here's one of my friends. I need to name them. They spend enough time in close proximity to my windows that I can figure out who is who among the squirrels.

If one of you says "How Cute" I'm going to....well I don't know what I'll do, but YUCK. LOL.
